42

It was not much different to turn that, to be very honest. The novelty of the big ‘4’ is long past, and life continues on its own merry way. But, the year has been hard. Like, really hard. On the other hand, it could have been far worse.

I crossed into the day that marked the starting of the number terribly worn out, much as a part of a longer ongoing struggle. I have been through many challenging times in life before, but this is the most worn out I have ever felt.

Much of this has to do with the year 2020 has been. It has been brutal. The first few months of the pandemic was a challenge that was met head-on, but, as the months went by, it started feeling like an endless grind.

That we have persisted and kept going to still be around is a testament to how resilient human beings are. We are dealing with stress that we normally encounter in weeks or months in days now. And, yet, we are still standing.

I do not know what our takeaway from all this is, at a broader civilization-level. I don’t expect much to change, come 2022, when we’d have this year as a distant memory. Personally, it has been quite different.

Never mind.
